Instant Bone Broth Soup

A soup made from real slow-cooked bone broth, dried into a sachet. Add hot water and it becomes a full mug of soup in two minutes — with the protein and natural collagen of the broth intact.

Most instant soup starts with starch, salt and powdered flavouring, and the soup taste is added at the end. Freja starts with bone broth: bones slow-cooked for hours, then dried. The flavour and the nutrition come from the same place.

Three blends — Thai Chicken, Classic Tomato, Spinach & Leek — each 3 x 30g sachets. All three are high in protein, and the protein comes from the broth rather than from added protein powder.

Bone broth soup, not a cup-a-soup

Packet soup and instant soup sachets are built around milled potato, starch and flavouring. They're quick, and that's the whole of the argument for them.

Instant Bone Broth Soup is quick for the same reason — it's a powder, you add hot water — but what's in the sachet is different. Real bone broth, dehydrated. Recognisable ingredients: tomato powder, dehydrated spinach, leek, fennel, lemongrass, ginger, turmeric. No artificial flavourings or preservatives.

A stock cube is flavouring: salt, starch and yeast extract. Bone broth soup carries the protein, collagen and minerals of the broth as well as the taste. That's the difference between a soup that tastes of something and a soup made of something.

A high protein soup that isn't a shake

There's 7.8g of protein in a mug of Thai Chicken, 8.1g in Classic Tomato and 9.8g in Spinach & Leek — 27% to 38% of each soup's energy, comfortably above the threshold for a high protein food.

It comes from the bone broth, not from whey, pea or soya isolate stirred in afterwards. The same is true of the collagen: 2.2g to 3.3g per serving, naturally occurring from slow-cooking bones rather than added as isolated peptides.

Most high protein food is sweet — shakes, bars, beauty powders. This is the savoury option, at 104 to 115 calories a mug.

Three flavours

Thai Chicken — free-range chicken bone broth with coconut milk, lemongrass, ginger and turmeric. 7.8g protein, 115 calories. Gluten free and dairy free.

Classic Tomato — 21% tomato powder with grass-fed beef bone broth, paprika and black pepper. 8.1g protein, our highest collagen at 3.3g, 108 calories. Gluten free; contains milk.

Spinach & Leek — 10% dehydrated spinach with leek, fennel and parsley in grass-fed beef bone broth. Our highest protein at 9.8g, 104 calories. Gluten free and dairy free. Contains beef bone broth, so it isn't vegetarian.

How to make it

Empty one 30g sachet into a mug or bowl, add 200ml of hot water, stir well and leave to stand for two minutes.

No pan, no hob, no microwave. It works at a desk, in a hotel room, or at home when you want something warm and you don't want to cook. Have it as a light lunch, alongside lunch, or in the afternoon instead of a snack.

Is it keto or low carb?

No. There are 15g of carbohydrate per serving, and milled potato is the first ingredient. If you're eating low carb, our Instant Bone Broth sachets have 1.2g of carbs and 41 calories, and do the same job in a sipping format.

Is it vegetarian?

No. All three soups are made with real chicken or beef bone broth — including Spinach & Leek, which looks like a vegetable soup and isn't one.
